# How to payout

Once an affiliate's commission is approved, you can prepare and pay the affiliate using one of BixGrow's supported payout methods.

BixGrow supports the following payout methods:

* **External payout:** Pay affiliates outside BixGrow, such as by bank transfer or another payment service.
* **In-app PayPal payout:** Pay affiliates directly in-app through your connected PayPal account.
* **Automated PayPal payout:** Pay affiliates automatically by integrating PayPal into BixGrow.
* **In-app Store Coupon payout:** Pay affiliates with Store Coupon that they can redeem for purchases in your store.
* **In-app Store Credit payout**: Pay affiliates with Shopify Store Credit that they can use directly at checkout when purchasing in your store.

## Choose your payment methods

To set up how you will pay your affiliates, go to **Settings > Payments**

If none of these options meet your needs, you can also create a custom payment method to suit your preferred way of paying affiliates.

## Collect your affiliates' payment info

Now it's your affiliates' turn to select which method they want to get their commissions paid with from the options available as set up above. When they log into the Affiliate Dashboard, this notification requiring them to add payment information will show up. They must first click the **Add now** button.

They will be redirected to this **Payment method** tab, where they can select a method they prefer from the list of available methods you offer.

Once saved, their information will be displayed in your **Payouts** page

If the affiliate hasn't added their payment info yet, you’ll see the “Missing” status in that Payment Method column. You can remind the affiliate to update their payment details by going to **Affiliate profile > Find the Payment method section > Remind**

Affiliates can choose only **ONE** payment method from the options you provide.

## Generate payout

This step only applies to the 3 manual payment methods:

* **External payout** (e.g., Bank Transfer, Debit Card)
* **In-app PayPal payout**
* **In-app Store Coupon payout**
* **In-app Store Credit payout**

It doesn't apply to **Auto PayPal payouts**, since the process from generating to paying out is automated.

You can go to **Payouts** > **Approved balance** to generate payouts.

This step helps you group all the payable amounts you want to pay at once — including commissions from referral orders and bonuses — into one payout record.

By default, each row shows the total approved amount available for each affiliate. You can simply click **Generate payout** to create a payout for the full amount, or you can use filters if you want to pay for a specific period or campaign.

Generating a payout DOES NOT transfer money. It only creates a payout record that helps you organize what needs to be paid.

After generating, a payout record is created in **Unpaid** status, and you can review it in the **Payouts > Unpaid** tab.

You can use these filters in the **Approved balance** tab to narrow down affiliates before generating a payout:

* **Time period**: filter by the date range approved commissions were recorded, for example, All Time, or you can set a custom time period.

* **Affiliate**: filter by a specific affiliate.

* **Minimum balance**: show only affiliates whose approved balance is at least the amount you set, for example, $100.00.

  You can change the default minimum balance in **Settings** > **Payment** > **Minimum balance.**

* **Payment method** — filter by the affiliate's payment method, such as PayPal, Store Credit, or Bank Transfer.

> This feature is especially useful when processing payouts on a fixed schedule — for example, monthly payouts. Simply apply filters for the month you want to pay out, then use **Bulk generate** to create all the payout records in one action, making the process faster and more consistent.

Additionally, if you want to generate payouts for specific referral orders, you can go to **Conversions > Referral orders** > select the orders you want, and click **Generate payout**.

This step brings everything you plan to pay an affiliate—commissions and bonuses—into a single, well-organized payout record. It helps reduce mistakes by letting you review the total and the included items beforehand. Every payout record is also saved in the **Payouts** tab, giving you a clear history of what has been prepared.

If you use[ **Automated PayPal payouts**](https://docs.bixgrow.com/payouts/how-to-payout/automated-paypal-payout), the payout generation steps are skipped because approved balances are scheduled to generate and pay automatically.

## FAQ

<details>

<summary><strong>After generating a payout, can I pay it partially?</strong></summary>

No. A generated payout must be paid in full. For example, if the payout amount is $100, you can't pay only $50 or $45.

As a workaround, you can pay by order instead. For example, if a payout includes orders **#1001**, **#1002**, and **#1003**, delete the generated payout, then go to the **Conversions** tab and generate a payout for only one or two of those orders.
